About This Event
Artificial Intelligence is becoming part of the digital world children move through every day — from chatbots and smart toys to learning apps and recommendation systems. This workshop helps participants understand how these AI systems actually work, where they can go wrong, and what risks they can create for children’s safety and wellbeing.
Across the session, we’ll unpack the tech behind crisis response failures, AI “friendships,” data tracking, targeted advertising, and the creation of fake or harmful content. Participants will learn how these systems collect information, how they shape behaviour, and how to spot when AI tools may be unsafe or unreliable.
Most importantly, the workshop gives attendees practical strategies for supporting children and young people to use AI safely, recognise when an AI tool is influencing or manipulating them, and build strong critical thinking skills in a world where synthetic media and AI generated interactions are becoming increasingly common
